Gwiazda

Dedicated to long-term storage. Gains taste with the storage. Almost 100% of the tuber harvest accounts for marketable yield.

Variety characteristic:

Gwiazda shows a rapid initial development and develops a very strong and an erect foliage. It develops an extremely impressive canopy that tightly covers the inter-rows, limiting the development of weeds. The varietal feature is a slightly lighter pigmentation of stems and leaves, compared to other varieties. Gwiazda provides big number of tubers middle in the ridge. Gwiazda stands out in terms of exceptionally uniform tubers in the yield, with low share of undersizes. Almost 100% of the tuber yield is a marketable yield. Attractive tubers taste very good. This variety reveals a steady long term performance in storage. It gains flavor with storage. It maintains its high food quality until late spring. It is very resistant to storage diseases. It will perfectly meet the expectations of growers with poorly modernized warehouses.

Site requirements:

Gwiazda has middle demands to soil quality, fertilization and water supply. Soils in good agricultural conditions are advantageous for ensuring a good tuber quality. An increased nitrogen fertilization should be balanced with a sufficiently high phosphorus-potassium fertilization. An excess of nitrogen may extend vegetation of plants, may delay tuber maturation and may cause an excessive overgrowth of the above-ground parts of the plants.
