Surmia

Very rapid initial development in both canopy and tubersize. A rather low height plant with a strong foliage. A good yield performance with well-shaped, attractive tubers with a pleasant full flavour – already 40 days after emergence.

Variety characteristic:

Surmia is designed for a very early harvest. Surmia is an extra early ware potato and due to its low and stiff haulm is promoted for cultivation under plastic/fibretex. Its sprouts are thick and strong. A feature of this variety is a scarce inflorescence. Its initial development is very rapid with very good ridge covering soon after emergence. An yield of first earlies obtained 40 days after emergence exceeds the yield of the reference variety. Surmia forms rather few and big sized tubers high in the ridge. The well-shaped tubers attract with an excellent “potato flavour”. It is possible to obtain a satisfactory yield in the second half of May.
