Kuba

The undoubted advantage of the variety is its outstanding resistance to aggressive biotypes of potato wart disease.

Variety characteristic:

Kuba is one of the most popular starch variety in Poland. It is a plant of medium size with compact canopy. It reaches technological maturity quite early what makes Kuba an ideal variety for an early delivery at campaign start. It is suitbale for early processing into starch. The undoubted advantage of the variety is its outstanding resistance to aggressive biotypes of potato wart disease. It is resistant to storage diseases and reveals a good performance at storage due to its long dormancy.

Site requirements:

Kuba has middle demands to soil quality. It can be cultivated on lighter as well as on more fertile soils. To use the full yield potential of the variety, an adequate supply of water is needed. Under optimal water conditions during the growing season and in the absence of water stress, Kuba accumulates much more starch than the indicated average value, i.e. even 22%. It is recommended to reduce the planting density on sandy soils to reduce a competition between plants in the canopy.
