Hajduk

High drought tolerance, high and stable yield, amazing good taste.

Variety characteristic:

Hajduk is a medium-sized plant with dark green leaves. The tubers are homogeneous and very large. Hajduk forms about 13 tubers at the height of the mother tuber. Deeper planting is preferred. In better locations, it is recommended to increase the planting density in order to obtain slightly smaller-sized tubers. Hajduk forms a stable yield in years with different rainfall distribution. There is no darkening of the flesh after cooking and baking, Hajduk keeps its intense yellow flesh color, which makes it very attractive on the plate. It retains its flavor until the end of January. In the trials registered by COBORU in 2022 and 2023 Hajduk achieved a marketable yield of 44 t in 2022 and 40 t in 2023. In the field trials conducted by the Breeding Department, the total yield was 54 t /ha in 2024.

Site requirements:

Hajduk has low demands on soil and water supply and medium demands on nutrient supply. It copes well with poor soil conditions. Hajduk produces a consistent and stable yield in both dry and wet years. Hajduk is tolerant of periodic water shortages.
