Malaga

Due to a good tuber appearance and a low sensitivity to mechanical damages. Malaga is a variety being well appriopriate for washing and packing.

 

Variety characteristic:

Malaga is a plant of medium height. A high yield of rather big tubers is formed middle in the ridge. This medium early variety shows an unique appearance. The oval, homogenous tubers are characterized by an uniform grading with low share of undersizes. Additionally, Malaga is known for its smooth skin, very shallow eyes, yellow skin and light yellow flesh. This variety is well suited for the wash market and for packing due to its optical appearance and low skin’s sensitivity to mechanical damage. The taste of the culinary B – slightly mealy type is very good. Very good performance at storage.

Site requirements:

Malaga has low demands to soil quality, and middle demands to water supply and fertilization. It is  suitable for lighter soil types as well as moderately firm soils.
