Lech

The undoubted advantage of the variety is the tuber appearance – pink coloured tubers of medium size with very shallow eyes attract and meet the variety requirements for packaging.

Variety characteristic:

Lech is a plant of low to medium height. Stems reveal an anthocyanin pigmentation, hence the canopy takes on a darker shade of green compared to other varieties. A high yield of uniform, medium sized tubers is formed fairly deep in the ridge. The tubers posses red skin colour and attract with very shallow eyes. Lech fullfills a variety criteria for packaging. Due to its long dormancy it is suitable for long term storage. Retains good culinary quality until late spring.

Site requirements:

Lech has middle demands to soil quality and fertilization and higher demands to water supply. It needs a balanced fertilization. An excess nitrogen may extend vegetation of plants and may delay tuber maturation.
